Custom England Golf Trips with Haversham & Baker
The great courses of England are frequently overshadowed by those of Scotland and Ireland in the mind of the golf traveler. Many are often surprised to learn that England is not only home to four Open Championship venues, but also more courses ranked in the World Top 100 than Ireland.
If you’re in the early stages of planning a golf trip to England, we suggest visiting the England section of the H&B Yardage Book. There you’ll find in-depth guides covering all aspects of the planning process.
But while you’re here, let's explore the best regions to consider for golf trips to England.

Explore England's Golf Coast
England's Golf Coast near Liverpool and Southport stands out globally for its rich concentration of premier golf courses. This region is home to three members of The Open rota – Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s, Royal Birkdale, and Royal Liverpool Golf Club – and the Claret Jug is scheduled to return to the area in 2026. Nearby, Southport & Ainsdale is a two-time Ryder Cup host and provided the American side with its first win on international soil. Additionally, Formby and Hillside are both exceptional courses, the latter celebrated for having one of the finest closing nines in golf. All of which is conveniently located within a short drive of Southport, providing travelers with an unmatched golfing experience without needing to change accommodations. While the area is a golfer’s paradise, it offers limited attractions beyond its famous courses, making it more suited for those primarily interested in golf.
Discover Golf Near London
London not only boasts iconic landmarks like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace but also some of England's finest golf courses. The city's suburbs are rich with heathland courses that offer parkland beauty and links-style play, including four courses ranked in the GOLF World Top 100. Noteworthy among these is Sunningdale Golf Club, famous for its two top-ranked courses and an unforgettable lunch experience. Nearby, the exceptional Harry Colt designs at Swinley Forest and St. George's Hill are also mainstays of the Top 100. Another notable stop is The Berkshire, where the golf-hungry traveler will find two outstanding heathland courses. Beyond golf, London and its surrounding area is a paradise for both golfers and tourists, offering world-class sightseeing, shopping, and dining. The famous sites of London are best explored on an excursion before or after the golf portion of your trip, but the palaces at Windsor and Hampton Court offer the wanderer an enriching experience near city's famous courses. Logistically speaking, the abundant non-stop flights from the U.S. to London make the region a convenient choice.
Golf on the Channel Coast
Nestled along the southern shores of England, near the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, the Channel Coast boasts several prestigious links courses rich in golf history. This area includes Royal St. George’s Golf Club, a frequent Open Championship venue and the first outside of Scotland to host the tournament. Next door is Prince’s Golf Club, which offers 27 holes of enjoyable links golf and its own share of history: it was here that Gene Sarazen introduced the world to the sand wedge in the 1932 Open. Finally, Royal Cinque Ports hosted The Open twice and delivers a classic links golf experience. Less than a two-hour drive from London, these courses provide a compelling alternative to the more frequented courses near Liverpool, making them a prime choice for a weeklong golf itinerary combined with London's heathland courses. Beyond golf, the Channel Coast offers remarkable sightseeing, from Dover Castle to Canterbury Cathedral, enhancing the travel experience for golfers and tourists alike, perfect for those looking to explore the rich heritage and scenic beauty of this unique region.

England Golf Trip Reviews
“Coordinating the arrangements for golf, hotels, and travel is always easy with Chris, Whitney, and the rest of the team. The knowledge and insight that they bring is a great help. The golf in England was phenomenal, not a weak course on the lineup. Walton Heath was the most surprising of the courses we played in my opinion, Royal St. George's being my favorite. The Fairmont Windsor Park was the nicest hotel I've ever been too, beyond impressed with every aspect of it.”

“From the driver to the courses to the hotel, everything was perfect and organized for us. We just had to decide where to have the next pint. Chris, Whitney and our driver Peter Scott were all exceptional. We are going to be using your services for the fourth year in a row in 2025.”

“My first trip, and felt very comfortable and enjoyed this initial adventure. The offerings, and intangibles that H&B handles to make your focus be on golf, and just enjoying the trip is pretty nice. Outside of the wonderful access to the courses; I Loved the easy transportation & coach, and John, our driver could not be better, attitude, promptness, service was exceptional.”

“The trip was fabulous. Being pampered by our driver, Cullen. He did an excellent job in every way. A quality man that took care of us and made us all feel lucky to have gotten to know him. Just sit back and enjoy!”

Scotts Bluff Country Club
“The golf courses were excellent. We have very few links style courses in the USA and these courses required a different approach to playing golf. As a result, I feel I am now a more all-round golfer. Our driver did an outstanding job. He went well beyond my expectations in providing service. The hotel and town of Southport were very nice and in an ideal location to travel to the golf courses. The minimal travel to get to the courses was a big plus.”
Ian McLean
Fieldstone Golf Club
“Great friendships established among the group, but Haversham & Baker put us in a place where we could relax and enjoy each other’s company. The golf along Southport is as good as any destination in Scotland or Ireland. Very friendly people, great lodging, and world class golf.”

“It was literally perfect. Follow the instructions sent by H&B and you will be set for a great experience. Loved the first class treatment we received at each course. Access to caddies was also a huge benefit. Bring multiple pairs of golf shoes and of course – always ship your clubs rather than have them travel with you.”
Ken Sanders
Palos Verdes Golf Club
“I appreciated the location of all courses in relation to the hotel. Our hotel in Southport was excellent. Our driver could not have been better! He took great care of us for the entire week. Give yourself extra time (in case of delays) for travels to the U.K.”
Pat Paison

“When you’re overseas, you’re out of your comfort zone, so I’m a big planner on the front end. I had traveled with members domestically, but this was our first international trip. A friend recommended I use Haversham & Baker and it’s been superior in every way.”
John Marino, PGA
